The next week he drove to the lake and then went into Wisconsin Rapids. It was the nearest town and had about twelve thousand people at the time. He drove around until he found a lawyer?s office and went in. It was a husband and wife team, John and Mary, the only lawyers in town.
He introduced himself and said: ?I want to work for you.? They replied: ?We don?t need help and why would you want to work here.? Fred explained that he was seeking a new life and that all he wanted was to work three days a week, only expecting to be paid for work he brought in. When they saw his qualifications they agreed.
Before returning to Chicago he visited his neighbors, Beth and Charlie, whom his parents had known for years. While he was wrapping up his affairs in Chicago he had them find a contractor to build an addition to the house on the lake.
He picked up Papa, Mama and Chandra on a Sunday and drove them to the lake and said that this is there new home. They were thrilled. Papa said it would only take them a few days to wrap up their affairs in Chicago and that he had a long time employee who he would give the restaurant to, only keeping the property.
In just a few weeks they were on their way. Fred picked them up in a long Limousine. Fred held Chandra most of the way and told them as much as he could about the lake as they drove.
