The following are the known children of Jesse and Lavina Cameron (ED # I ):
A.	Premilla Ann Cameron - she was born on October 6, 1826, as taken from the Green Family Bible. She was also known as Emelia, Emily, or Amelia as found on various records. Based on several sources, she was bom in Marion County, Mississippi, the daughter of Jesse Cameron and Lavina Stanford. Premilla married Mathias (Lundgren) Green on May 18, 1843, as shown in the Green Bible. Research shows Mathias was bom on April 5, 1813, in Fleringe, Gotland, Sweden. While Mathias was a Presbyterian and Premilla was Baptist, they may have had their marriage performed by a priest or minister at one of the churches in New Orleans. How and where Mathias met Premilla Cameron is unknown. Tradition holds that Mathias married “the oldest and youngest daughters of Jesse Cameron ” This younger wife, Mary “Samantha” Cameron will be discussed shortly.
The Green Bible gives Premilla’s date of death as August 2, 1862. At least one of Mathias’ granddaughters told us she died at their family home at English Lookout, Louisiana, and was buried in the nearby family cemetery along with her three infant children. She once had a wooden head marker that could be seen from the railroad tracks.
Much of the following information was given to us in 1973 and 1974 through interviews with Mathias Green’s grandchildren and other older relatives living at that time. They were: Lillian M. Green Sportomo, Lucile “Ruth” Cazeneuve, Gertrude “Daisy” Green Quintini / Coulon, and Pauline Catenaro Heitzmann. Pauline was the daughter of Mary “Samantha” Cameron and grandmother of Jerry D. Heitzmann. She was bom on April 22, 1883, and died in 1977 in Bay St. Louis. Samantha was the second wife of Mathias Green.
Mathias and Premilla Green made their home at English Lookout, Louisiana. This is a small strip of coastal marsh on the west side of the Pearl River with the L & N Railroad tracks running through it. The first and only public record of a residence for Mathias and Premilla was found in the 1850 Hancock County, Mississippi census. Premilla is listed as bom 1827 in Mississippi. They show up in the Logtown, Mississippi area, just north of present day Pearlington, Mississippi. Logtown is approximately nine miles north-west of English Lookout, the known home of Mathias and Premilla Green.
As previously discussed, Premilla died and was buried at English Lookout in 1862. The exact date of Mathias Green’s death is not known.
We do know that he married his second wife, Mary “Samantha” Cameron (Premilla’s younger sister), in Hancock County on March 9, 1865, and that Samantha was a “widow” when she married a second time on February 25, 1869, to John Rhodes in Hancock County. Thus, Mathias died sometime during this period or around 1867. Until we can find something more specific, we will use c. 1867 as his date of death.
