This stretch of oountry between Bay St Louis and Pearl River is the oldest continuously Inhabited part cf the Coast. There seems but little doubt that as early as 1707* there existed a flourishing and permanent sottlenent on tha Bay of St Louis, antedating by nary years tha settlement at Pascagoula or north of the present city of Biloxi. The first land record of a white Inhabitant of Hanooelc County was that of John B.
