17.	Marie Madeleine Giraud - bom May 26, 1785 and baptized in 1789. She married first to Jean Marie Cosse (t), son of Joseph Cosse (t) and Barbara Cavellier. They had the following:
a.	Pierre Cosset - married Marie de Fontenelle, daughter of Francois Salomon Fontenelle and Francoise Barrois.
b.	Camile Cosset - married Francois Groleau on March 7, 1825, son of Alexandre Groleau and Marie Bertheau, native of Nantes, France.
Marie married the second time to Pedro Cagnolatti, native of Milan, Italy, son of Antonio Cagnolatti and Maria Pesana. Known children by this marriage are:
c.	Pierre Cagnolatti - bom on September 1, 1826.
d.	Antoine Cagnolatti - date of birth unknown. He married Marie Anne Portal on April 30, 1839 (St. Bernard Church, Marriage Book 1821-1846, p. 42, act 53).
18.	Alexis Giraud - bom on December 3, 1786 and baptized in 1789. This record is in St. Louis Cathedral.
Jeanne Negrier (Negrie) was bom in New Orleans and baptized on January 18, 1745 (St. Louis Cathedral Baptism Book II, p.31). Although the baptismal record does not give her date of birth, we suspect she was at least two years old at the time of her baptism. If she was born in 1745, she would have been only 14 years old at the time of her marriage to Andre Louis Giraud in 1759. Although it is possible, we suspect she was closer to 16 or 17 at the time of her marriage, for the marriage record itself does not mention anything about her being a minor. If she was, it was usually the custom for the priest to state that special permission was being given for the minor child to marry. Until we can find more specific information, we will list her as bom around 1743.
With her husband in St. Bernard Parish in the 1770 census and her having her last known child by him in 1786, we can assume she died after 1786 in St. Bernard Parish, LA. After having the above listed large family, we suspect this poor woman died of chronic exhaustion!
Etienne Giraud (Girod, Girault, Girau, etc.) was bom around 1698 (assuming he was around
20	years old when he came to America in 1718) on the Isle D’Orleron, Diocese of Saintes, France. This is a good size island just off the Atlantic coast of France. Diocese of Saintes was once the historic Province of Saintonge, but is now in the Province of Charente-Maritime. He died in New Orleans, LA on October 19, 1733 and was buried in the original Catholic cemetery which was located on the south-east comer of Royal and Conti Streets in New Orleans. This cemetery was later abandoned and St. Louis Cemetery #1 started. Whether or not his body was transferred is unknown. Etienne’s death is recorded in St. Louis Cathedral Baptism Book 1, p.
85. It names his place of birth and his parents as Bertrand Giraud and Catherine Lemay (Hemay, Hemey). These parents are also listed on Etienne’s marriage record in St. Louis Cathedral.
