4.	Magdeline Burat - born December 1, 1736 and baptized December 18, 1736. She was born posthumously, (after the death of her father), under the same name as her mother. This record is part of the marriage record of Madeleine Rouger Burat to Antoine Negrier in 1737.
Guillaume Burat died on March 6, 1736. The above Burat records were taken from a book on Mobile Church records called “Gulf Coast Colonials” by Winston DeVille.
Following Burat’s death, Madeleine soon married Antoine Negrier in Mobile on March
10,	1737 (Mobile Cathedral Marriage Book I, p. 19, act. 3). For more on Madeleine, refer back to the section on Antoine Negrier. One can only assume she ended up in St. Bernard Parish with her second husband as that 1770 census indicates. If so, we can further assume she died and is buried in St. Bernard Parish, LA.
Mathieu Rouger (Roge, Roger, Rouge, Rouget, Rodger) as already mentioned Mathieu came from LaRochelle, France to Mobile on the ship “Marie” in 1718. He was traveling with his wife, Simonne Servanne (Servan, Servant), and their daughter. Once in Mobile, he made his living as a shoemaker. This information was found in the 1721 census of Mobile where he appears with wife and one child. We can assume that Mathieu and Simonne Rouger died in or near Mobile, AL.
There is a “Mathurin Roger” that married Catherine Blanchard on April 5, 1721 at Biloxi (St. Louis Cathedral Marriage Book A, p. 18, act 39). This record names his parents as “Pierre Roger and Jeanne Hersane.” St. Louis Cathedral also has a record of the burial of “Jean Francois Roger” on January 11, 1724. His parents listed were “Mathurin Roger and Catherine Blanchard.” We initially thought this was our Mathieu Rouger, but are now convinced they are two different people.
Descendants of Jean Baptiste D’auby and Marie Jeanne Giraud
Many of the first and second generation descendants of Jean B. D’auby (Doby) are listed on the estate settlement of his son, Louis Doby after his death in 1866. This record is found in the Hancock County Mississippi Court House, Probate Court, case #40. His descendants are also named in the Hancock County Deed Book E, p. 237. This record is pertaining to the estate settlement of Jean B. Doby in 1836. It names Jean’s wife, “Maria Jeanne Girod” widow, and children “Eulalie, widow of Gabrielle Casanova; Louis; Florentine Doby, wife of Francisco Netto; and Marcellite, wife of Lott McArthur.”
It should be noted that one child does not appear in this list, nor does he appear in the Louis Doby estate settlement - this is Thomas Doby. From his baptismal and marriage records, we know he is a legitimate child of Jean B. Doby and Marie J. Giraud. One of Thomas’ descendants, Mrs. Jeanne Doby Williams of Bay St. Louis was asked why this was. She reluctantly admitted that there was some “jealousy” in the family between Thomas and his sisters because of favoritism shown by Louis toward his younger brother, Thomas. If this was true, and there was an attempt to leave Tom out of any inheritance, it is rather ironic that it was eventually the heirs of Tom Doby that ended up with most of Jean B. Doby’s estate on Cowan Bayou.
Of all the people named as heirs to Louis Doby in that settlement, all but one has been identified. She simply appears as “Mrs. Colombe.” She received a $20.00 share which was the same as the known nieces and nephews of Louis Doby - indicating that she was a niece of Louis.
