mother, Marianne, as "Paquet" on some records, and "ST. MARTIN" on other records. We know that Magdeleine "Pany" Baudreau had 3 additional children that used the Paquet name. Keep in mind that Pierre Paquet, Jr. had abandoned his family in 1737, and he died in Haiti in 1767. These children's baptism records are listed by Brother Jerome in the October 1990 issue of the MCHGS publication, pages 86 and 94. They are:
1.	Marie Ann "Marianne" - born 1742. Her baptism record dated April 25,1748, states she was 6 years old that year and her parents were "Pierre Paquet and Magdeleine, of Indian and white parents" (St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans, LA, Bapt. Bk. II, p. 123). Marianne married Nicolas Ladner dit Christian, the son of Christian Ladner and Marie Barbe Brunei, and had a large family on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
2.	Francois - born 1743. His baptism record dated June 22,1746, states he was 3 years old that year and was the son of "Joseph Paquet and Magdeline Beaudrot." The record says Magdeline's parents were married "by shaking hands in front of the Church" which is typically done when a couple could not "marry in the Church" for any number of reasons. Also note the priest incorrectly listed Francois' father as "Joseph Paquet" instead of "Pierre Paquet." Errors like this are fairly common in the early Church records. (St. Louis Cathedral Bapt. Bk. II, p. 63).
3.	Madeleine - born 1747. Her baptism record dated April 25,1748, states she was "twelve and one- half months old" at that time. Her parents were "Pierre Paquet and Magdalene, of Indian and white parents, her mother and father" (St. Louis Cathedral Bapt. Bk. II, p. 123). Note that she was baptized the same day as her older sister, Marie Anne.
It is clear these 3 children do not belong to Pierre Paquet, Jr. because we know he deserted his wife and only child in 1737 and these 3 were all born AFTER that date. While I have no specific record saying who their father actually was, I would, based on the above, be 99.9% sure their father was the Alexandre St.
Martin named above. Some researchers identify this Alexandre St. Martin as Francois "Alexandre" St.
Martin dit Chenet, the son of Vincent Alexandre dit Chenet and Marie Praux. Vincent was born on October 6, 1679, in Montreal, Canada and Marie was born in 1689 in St. Jean de Angely, Saintonge, France. Please note that Marie Praux was a sister to Marguerite Praux who married Jean Baptiste Colon dit LaViolette. They are both daughters of Jean Etienne Praux and Anne Perrot who came to North America in 1706 and settled in the Biloxi, Mississippi and Mobile, Alabama areas. The second child born to JBBG, Sr. was Jean Baptiste Baudreau dit Graveline, Jr. This child was born in 1717 as found on his parent's marriage record in 1727 that said he was "aged ten years." According to his father's Will mentioned above, JBBG, Jr. was born in 1720. Of the two, I will have to use the 1717 date because it was given much closer to his actual birth, and it was a religious record. JBBG, Jr. married on March 1,1734, to Marie Catherine Vinconnau (Mobile Cathedral Bapt. Bk. 1, p. 102). This record says he was a "Creole of Dauphin Island, son of Mr. Jean Baptiste Baudreau dit Graveline and Susanne, a resident of the Pascagoula, and Captain of the Militia." There is no mention of Susanne's race or her maiden name in this record. JBBG, Jr. also had an ongoing affair with Henriette Huet and had children by both women. He was executed in New Orleans, LA, on June 7,1757 for his part in trying to start a rebellion against the French authorities.
