*** Another one that started in the middle....***
other things hurt his stomach. Then not long after they had been living there just a short ways from us, she got sick and the doctor said it was her tonsils. So Willie and I took her to a doctor in Bay St. Louis and he removed her tonsils, so Willie rented a room for she and I and the Dr. only kept her one night as he said if she started bleeding it would be best to stay close to a doctor. So then we took her to our place and kept her a couple of days and she's never forgotten it. It was such a little thing to do but she told me one time that she and Rufus could never pay us back for what we had done for them. But let me tell you they have paid us for that little deed a thousand times or more. Awhile after that they moved back on their old place and started farming and every year, here they'd come with a load of vegetables. Sweet potatoes, corn, tomatoes, greens and different kinds of things and wouldn't let Willie pay for a single thing. Some times Willie would slip some money in his pocket. Then sometimes Katy would call me and tell me if we'd come up there, they had us something but wouldn't say what so he and I would go and she'd fill the back of the car with all kinds of commodities.
Willie would try to give them money and they said, this is not to be sold. They've been "wonderful"neiahbors. Also Tony and Lonnie have been good to us too. Jackie, Howard & David have always lived a distance from them as they held good jobs. Tony and Lonnie are a chip off from the old block. Took after their daddy and mother (Farmers) Howard is a musician but Katy told me today that he's working in a doctors office. For awhile he was traveling and working for doctors and lawyers. Jackie and family lives in Orange Grove (Gulfport). He has the same job he'd held for years. His wife is a school teacher, a very sweet person. Well, I could tell many more little things about them but I think I've given a pretty good description of the whole family.
