Sarah Jackson to Rachel Jackson Lawrence
Sea Song July 27th /60
My Precious Love,
I recieved your very sweet letter of the 24th & 5th inst. some few days ago. I was just closing one to you, and mearly acknowledged yours, promising to notice it more at large at a future day, and although I have nothing of intrest to communicate I know a few lines will be acceptable. I have also recieved one of the 11th inst. from our darling Sami, which I intend answering shortly. I regret to hear you are so much wearied with your sewing. I expect you put too much work in the articles for the dear little pets. I would be satisfied with perfectly plain clothing until I got ahead alittle, and make the more ornamental part when more at leisure. I fear	close application	and
confinement to the house will weaken you,	and injure	your	health.
I am glad you have the machine for without it I fear you would never get through?Dear little precious pets how I do long to see them. none can fill their place, no others are interesting to me. I count the days as they pass	hoping	I may once	more	be
permitted to be with you, but some	months	must elapse e'er I
shall be able to come one. there are some reports of fever in the city, and I fear if it prevails at al, it will be to a considerable extent as this season is said to have been so far unusually warm, and the weather favorable to the spread of yellow fever. I think it will be unsafe for our dear Sami, to venture down, unless he finds the reports are untrue. I would not have him to risk his health and perhaps his life by coming down. I expect the little pets have become very much attached to him. he
