ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
In my quest to learn and write the history of the Ladner and Ladnier families of South Mississippi, I have made many new friends in this area. I have also been in many homes and recieved the highest degree in Southern Hospitality, which I feel so unworthy.
Now to reason what a certain individual may have done during his life. Different conclusions may be drawn by different investigators and many beliefs stated as facts are just conclusions derived frcm the best evidence available.
It is with these early Ladner and Ladnier families, records are not as clear as we may like them to be. When we began compiling information on these early settlers; their many changes in governments; their way of life; how they have banded together in South Mississippi; their family growth and prosperity in this area is unequaled.
Tt> those who have acted as guides going with me to seek out information which was so essential. I am grateful, for I confess, without their help my labor would have been in vain:	Andrew	Ladner,
Houston Ladner, Lennis Ladner, Jasper Ladner, Lawrence Ladner, and the late Mr. Glyn Ladner.
I am especially grateful to Mrs. Julia Guice for encouragement, guidance and sharing information on this Ladner family.
I an very grateful to Mrs. Cora Ladner, Mrs. Louise Landrum,
Mrs. Bessie Mapp, Mrs.Wanda Pearson, Mr. Bill Teck, Mrs. Floussey Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Shaw, Mr. Manus Ladnier, and Mr. J.N.
Dedeaux. Your kindness in every way shall always be remembered.
I specifically wish to thank my daughter Ruth for being so faithful in helping to compile the information and then typing the pages as you see them now.
I am especially indebted to Brother Jerome Lupre for his kind assistance. Translating many of the early records which were so essential.
I regret the errors which may be found both in the spelling and misplacing of the family names. I have handled the Ladner and Ladnier name with great care, and I can assure you that any mistakes are unintentinial.
And now after many years and much travel my humble prayers are that it will be beneficial to all concerned.
Leonard L. Slade, Sr.
