LOCKED IN THE CONFINES
Locked in the confines of the soul
There is, in your presence, a depth beyond measure.
"Oh, God, give me the courage to unfold
The bonds which bind the captive treasure!?
The love, the life, the ethereal being, which brings The world to focus, and casts aside the darkness. Unleash the heart and raise a voice that sings Before it is too late and a dream falls to nothingness. Too frequently I forget that you are not as free as I, And that your bonds are stronger.
Tell me to go, and I will stay no longer.
Only please permit a smile, a tear, a sigh To feed a dying ecstacy left to ponder A miscarriage of memories so much fonder.
IN DAYS PAST
In days recent past you would pass by,
Perhaps knock at my door, a ?Hello? to say,
Or chat a while, exploring happenings of the day.
But now no more, leaving me to wonder "Why??
What Could I have said? What have I done?
To hurt your sensitive soul. If only I but knew!
Was it that in my eagerness I pressed you Too much with things of little concern to anyone?
There is, perhaps, in me an overbearing possessiveness Which tires the mind and sends the fugitive heart to run. If this is true, with tearful eyes and heavy heart I admit my guilt and urgently plead for forgiveness.
It may well be that in the days to come ?tis done.
Again and again. You've but to lift a hand,
Please! not depart.
