HONORABLE RICHARD MENDES.
Honorable Richard Mendes has been appointed by Governor Vardanian a member of the Mississippi State Oyster : Commission for a term of five years, to succeed Honorable Frank J.- Ladner, ?whose commission had expired and who was not a candidate for re-appointment. ^ Governor Vardanian could not have aade a better appointment, in justice to The oyster interest, the people and to himself, and this appointment is fully in keeping with the many he has .made since his induction into office.
The Echo congratulates its estimable friend Mendes, and felicitates him upon the distinction of having been tendered so important an office at the bands of the State.	, -

Notice is hereby given that the contract for publishing the proceedings and legal notices of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the city of Bay St. Louis for one year, from the first Saturday in August, 1905, will be sold to the best advantage of the city, sale to take place at the front door of the city hall, in Front street, in Bay St. Louis, Miss., on Saturday, September 2nd, 1905, at 9 o?clock a. m. sharp. The board reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
