PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Dan M. Russell, Jr., has been an honored member of the l&gal profession for over sixty years, and has served in many legal and civic positions with distinction and honor; and
WHEREAS, after receiving his law degree in 19 37, he began his practice of law and service to his community in Bay St.
Louis; and
WHEREAS, he served his country in the U. S. Naval Intelligence during World War II, and afterward as Lt. Cmdr USNR; and
WHEREAS, after World War II, he re-entered the practice of law and continued to serve his country, state, county and cities in various capacities, such as President of the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, President of Bay St. Louis Rotary Club, President of Mississippi Coast Council of Chambers of Commerce, Chairman of the Hancock County Election Commission, a member of the Mississippi Marine Conservation Commission, attorney for the Cities of Bay St. Louis and Waveland, and many other positions of public trust and honor too numerous to mention; and
WHEREAS, Dan M. Russell, Jr., was elevated to the Federal Judiciary on October 2, 1965, and has served, and continues to serve, in that position with honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, the exemplary service to his community, response to thq call of duty, and life of Dan M. Russell, Jr., should be held up as example to future generations and should be commended by the governing bodies of this community;
NOW, THEREFORE, Hancock County and the Cities of Bay St. Louis and Waveland do hereby recognize and commend Dan M.
Russell, Jr., for his outstanding contributions to Hancock County, the Cities of Bay St. Louis and Waveland, and to
the citizens therein, this the 5th day of April__________________,
