Michael Redin ShofTner was born in 18)(>. When very young, he joined the Federal Army, and served until the close of the war. He has been engaged in the milling business for several years, and is now connected with a lumber	business in	Union City.	In 18(59 lie

In 18(i<> he married Mary Ann Hastings; and out of seven children born unto them, five are now living, all married except one. Joel Edwin Shoffner, the youngest, was born in 1852 ; and just as he reached maturity he was called into the great beyond.
Joel Shoffner, the subject of this sketch, was a dear lover of music, both vocal and instrumental. In his earlier days he taught singing school. He would make
