THE WILTZ FAMILY OF MOBILE, ALABAMA AND ST. CHARLES PARISH, LOUISIANA
Until recently, we did not realize that our Lorentz Conrad Wiltz of Mobile, Alabama, had a brother that settled in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. The following is a summary of the information found on him and his family. We will use the German spelling of their names, for the Wiltz immigrants, due to their known German ancestry. Keep in mind, it was French and Spanish priests performing these baptism and marriage ceremonies, and they spelled the names as used in their native languages.
This brother was Johann Ludwig Wiltz (aka Jean Louis, Juan Luis, Wiltzen, Wilsz, Wiles, etc.), baptized on July 16,1711, at St. George's Lutheran Church in Eisenach, Thuringen, Germany. His date of birth was not given, thus we will place hi? date of birth as "about 1711." This baptism record named his parents as "Johann Diedrich Wiltz and Christiana Sophia Franck (aka Franckin, Francque, etc.). Johann Diedrich and Christina Sophia married at the same German church on September 18,1702. Johann Ludwig Wiltz married Maria Barbara Dole (aka Doll, Dolle, Della, Tole, Tolie, Touline, etc.). Maria was a native of "Franckendall, Saxony" as found on the 1776 marriage record, at St. Louis Cathedral at New Orleans Louisiana, of her daughter, Margarita Wiltz. We have no marriage record for Johann Ludwig and Maria Barbara, but they probably married somewhere in the Louisiana Territory about 1738 based on the age of their first known child. They had the following known children based on their baptism and marriage records at St. Louis Cathedral:
1.	Lorentz Wiltz - baptized at SLC on 28 April 1740.
2.	Jeanne Wiltz - baptized at SLC on 16 June 1746.
3.	Jean "Joseph" Wiltz - baptized at SLC on 20 March 1747.
4.	Marguerite Wiltz - baptized at SLC on 6 September 1749.
5.	Louise "Hellene" Wiltz - baptized at SLC on 17 August 1751.
This family settled in the area of Des Allemands, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana.
His brother, Lorentz Conrad Wiltz, was baptized on August 16,1705, at St. George's Lutheran Church in Eisenach, Thuringen, Germany. His baptism record does not give his date of birth, thus we will assign his date of birth as "about 1705." His baptism record names his parents as "Johann Dietrich Wiltz and Christina Sophia Franck." He married Marie Anne "Marianne" Colon in Mobile, Alabama, on May 30, 1736 (Mobile Cathedral, Marriage Bk 1, page 11-a). This family is covered in our book, "The Favre Family," published in 1989, Issue #7, by the "Mississippi Coast Historical	and Genealogical Society,	Biloxi,
Mississippi." They had the following known children as found on various baptism	records as found at
the Mobile Cathedral, Mobile, Alabama:
1.	Marie "Marguerite" Wiltz - baptized at Mobile Cathedral on 29 November 1737.
2.	Claude Wiltz - baptized at Mobile Cathedral on 19 June 1742.
3.	Jean Baptiste Wiltz - baptized at Mobile Cathedral on 30 November 1743.
4.	Marie Anne Wiltz - baptized at Mobile Cathedral, born on 4 February 1746.
