and probably the priest's error, for we now know his middle name was "Diedrich" as found on his 1702 German marriage record. Lorentz Conrad Wiltz is recorded as "Antonio Wiltz" on the marriage record of his son, Jean Baptiste Wiltz to Marie Josephe Bahy, on May 4,1786, at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is another obvious priest error, as we have found on numerous church records during our 45 years of research. Again, these errors are mostly due to French and Spanish priests dealing with German names.
5.	Jean Baptiste Wiltz, son of Lorentz Conrad Wiltz, is listed by one person with the middle name of "Edmund." We have not found a first-hand source for this middle name and suspect it is an error, for the supplier of this information offered no source. Another researcher has a portrait of this Jean Baptiste Wiltz, dated "about 1815," and scanned onto his page. The portrait is located at the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans. The caption with this portrait says his parents were "Jean Louis Laurent Wiltz and Marianne Colomb, who (Jean Baptiste) married in 1770 to Suzanne Langliche." This is accurate except the "Jean Louis" part of our Lorentz Conrad Wiltz's name. Our Lorentz's brother in New Orleans, was "Johann Ludwig Wiltz," who went by "Jean Louis Wiltz" after the French priests recorded his name using the French spelling.
6.	Johann Diedrich Wiltz - one researcher has assigned his middle name as "Theodore" but gave no first-hand source. We know his middle name was Diedrich as found on his 1702 German marriage record
7.	One researcher states that Johann Ludwig Wiltz married his first wife "____________Ziriac" in "1731 in
Saxony," but offered no first-hand source. She was supposed to be the "daughter of Wilhelm Ziriac who was also an early German settler of the German Coast of Louisiana.
8.	Johann Diedrich Wiltz and Christina Sophia Franck have their dates and places of birth listed by one researcher, without citing a source! We have yet to find a source for this information. As of this date, we do not know exactly when or where they were born in Germany. We do not even know if they died in Germany, or if they ever immigrated to the Louisiana Territory.
We hope this helps and if anyone has an "original source" to add to or correct any of this information, please feel free to contact us anytime.
