The children of our Joseph Zengerling and Maria Franzisca Weber are:
I.	Eva Maria Zengerling - bom in Gehrden, Germany on January 7, 1795. She married Wilhelm Lucking on February 8, 1823 in Gehrden.
II.	Viktoria Henriette ?Victoria? Zengerling - born on January 6, 1798 and married Matthias Verderber (age 28) on September 28, 1834 in Gehrden. Matthias was from Rheintal in Krain, Austria. His name is often spelled Varderber, Verderbar, Phildaber, Ferderber, etc. He first shows up in Hancock County, MS in the 1840 Federal census living next to his brother-in-law, John Zengerling. We are not sure how or when this couple came to Hancock County, but it had to be between 1834 and 1840. After his arrival, he began buying land and later started raising cattle and even owned a schooner boat that he sailed up the Bayou La Croix Bayou. He accumulated a small estate over the years and was very close to his brother-in-law, John Zengerling and his family. They lived close to each other, and John with his family cared for Matthias and his wife in their later years. Matthias and Victoria Verderber had no children of their own. They are found in the 1850 census of Hancock County, house #365. They have an eight year old boy in the house - ?Frank Stringh? whom we feel was their nephew. They were good Catholics, and in 1882 they donated 5 areas in the Bayou La Croix community for the church and where the cemetery is today. Victoria died on June 20, 1883, and Matthias died on October 22, 1883. Both are buried in the Bayou La Croix Cemetery with dated headstones.
With Victoria gone and Matthias in poor health, he drew up his Will on September 26, 1883. He basically left his small estate to his brother-in-law, John Zengerling, and John?s children were to get one cow each. On March 17, 1884 his estate was opened and distribution of the assets began. This record is in the Hancock County Courthouse, Chancery Case # 246.
III.	Johann Arnold Joseph Zengerling - bom November 20, 1800
IV.	Franciscus Joseph Zengerling - bom November 20, 1803 in Gehrden. As mentioned earlier, older members of our Zengerling family well remember hearing of their ?Uncle (Great-uncle to be correct) Frank Zengerling that came to America with their Grandfather, John Zengerling, but who stayed in New York!? While researching this family on the internet, we found Mr. Hugh Singerline, Jr., of West Orange, Essex County, New Jersey that did a lot of research on his ?Zengerling? ancestors all the way back to Gehrden, Germany! It just so happens that his immigrant ancestor was Franz Joseph Zengerling - brother of our John Zengerling. He said that his ancestor mostly went by Joseph while our family, remembered him as Frank (Franz or Franciscus). We are not sure why, but it is no doubt one and the same person.
Mr. Singerline?s research shows that his Joseph Zengerling married Anna Maria Elizabetha Bense on August 28, 1830 at Natzungen, Germany which is a small town near Gehrden and lived there until he immigrated to the United States. He left Germany (Prussia at that time) for the same reason our John did - to escape being drafted into the Prussian army. On June 4, 1844, we find landing in New York the
