McGinnis, Patricia Lee Powers  -  September 2, 2005

Patricia Lee Powers McGinnis, 66 of Bay St. Louis, MS, passed away in Andalusia, AL on September 2, 2005, as an evacuee of Hurricane Katrina.

She was born in Decorah, Iowa and moved to New Orleans as a young child. She was a captain in the United States Air Force in the 1970's and a retired nursing teacher.

She is survived by five children, Edward F. McGinnis III of New Orleans, LA., Denman O. McGinnis of New Orleans, LA., Molly M. Sisson of Statesboro, Vanessa M. Lewy of Slidell, LA. and Casey P.P. McGinnis of Picayune, Miss.; sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, Melissa D. McGinnis, Jennifer C. McGinnis, Thomas S. Sisson and Steven J. Lewy; one step-daughter, Leslie M. Leonard of London, England and 12 grandchildren. She was a foster mother to Leah Fermin and Nigel Fields.

A Burial Mass will be held Saturday, November 19, 2005, 1 p.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church, Waveland, MS, with burial to follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Bay St. Louis, MS.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Clare Parish Fund, c/o Catholic Diocese of Biloxi, 1790 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi, MS 39532.

Hodges-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
