MCDONALD
LANDSCAPES - PORTRAITS
A Mississippi Gulf Coast native, JOHN McDONALD holds a BFA from the University of Georgia and a MFA, Yale University. His professional experience is as impressive. JOHN has taught art courses at the University of Southern Mississippi, and installed exhibits in New York, Pace Gallery, Hudson River Museum, Dia Art Foundation, Museum of Modem Art and the Guggenheim Museum and there are more!
E. C. Pennington, art historian and curator of the Morris Museum described the works of McDONALD, "In his art we do not see nature dressed up as a backdrop for some tired Southern soap opera, but rather nature as it is, and especially as it is in Mississippi. A master at comprehending the realities of the picture plane, his works evoke that sense of gliding, as we gaze over low rolling hills and flat green meadows towards a discreetly hidden horizon line. More than once I have looked into his art with the quietly satisfied feeling of really looking beyond."
The exhibitions and awards listing for this master artist are numerous. Atlanta College of Art, South Carolina Museum of Art, Guilford College, Yale University Art Gallery and Australian Travel Exhibition are included.
The works and commission information for JOHN McDONALD is available through his studio in historic Old Town Bay St. Louis.
