OIL - PHOTOGRAPHY -FINE ART CONSERVATION
Educated at Broward County College, Florida, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts received from the University of New Orleans, CARRIE M. DAVALT continued her studies with seven years training in fine art conservation and additional training in photography and art history.
Mary E. Kucera describes her work,
"Carrie's talents and interests cover a broad spectrum, ranging from realism to impressionistic abstract, but always with emphasis on form and design with supporting color. There is emotion in her work that is reflected in an orderly, balanced presentation. The same technique is evident in her Fine Art Photography. These talents are unusual in the art field today where most artists tend to box themselves into one particular, fixed school or style. It will be interesting and, I'm sure, rewarding to watch her continued developing progress."
DAVALT has exhibited at the College of Morris, New Jersey; Downtown Gallery, Place St. Charles, Newman Center and Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans and in 1992 "An Evening with the Artists" sponsored by the Gulf Coast Arts Council.
Tony Eccles
MAKER-OF-OBJECTS
TONY ECCLES, a self taught artist, sometimes paints moody landscapes and portraits, but is better known as a maker-of-objects which typically combine strong narrative and emotional content with irony and whimsy. His work frequently makes use of found objects, weathered surfaces and a restrained palette. Because of his found object assemblages, ECCLES was recently appointed to the Mississippi Arts Commission's roster of art demonstrators.
ECCLES is a regular exhibitor at Serenity Gallery, Bay Saint Louis; Wyndy Moiehead Fine Arts, New Orleans, Louisiana; and Art Who?, Ocean Springs. TONY ECCLES has also shown at Contemporary Arts Center, Arthur Roger Gallery and Gasperi Gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana; Gallery 121, Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi; Art Wave; and numerous curated and invitational shows.
