UNVEILING HISTORICAL MARKER—Bay St. Louis Mayor Larry Bennett, right, and Charlene Clark, Miss Hospitality, unveil Old Shieldsborough Historical Marker in front of the Bay St. Louis City Hall Wednesday. The historical marker was located on US-90 and a request for it to be placed in front of the city hall was made by the Hancock County Historical Society. A program for the dedication included Mayor Bennett, State Representative J.P. Compretta, who gave a history of Shieldsborough; John Rutherford, accomplishments of the local
historical society; Janet Aime, who introduced Miss Clark; American Legion Post No. 139 Commander Henry Prevou; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3253 Commander Harris Boudreaux. Mrs. Irene Hille was the Historical Society’s chairman for the relocation of the historical marker. Mrs. Peggy Gibbens is the president of the local society. Al Summy refinished the transplanted marker. (Staff photo by Ellis Cuevas)
