The year 2013 marks the 75th anniversary of the Bay Waveland Garden Club, which is headquartered in Bay St. Louis, but has included members living in Wavelamd. Diamondhead, Pass Christian, Bay St Louis and Hancock County as well as Long Beach, Ocean Springs, Baton Rouge and Michigan. When the 50m anniversary history was written, the club consisted of 99 members. Shortly thereafter the membership began to decline to about 45 just before Katrina hit in 2005. In December 2005,12 of us gathered in the Bay St Louis library for our first meeting after the devastating storm. This year we have grown to 52 active members. The activities, programs, and interests of the club have remained the same for 75 years. Annual flower shows, pilgrimages, monthly lectures and so on. We finance beautification of the area and are active in anti-litter programs and conservation activities. Various members have been active at the council, district, state, and regional levels of the garden club. We also have several Master Gardeners.
