B- W Garden Club sets spring flower
“Beauty for all seasons” will be the theme of the annual’ National Council Standard Flower Show, set for April 20 and 21 at the City-County Public Library.
The Bay-Waveland Garden Club is a member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc., which sponsors these shows to project and protect plant beauty all over the world.
There will be four divisions; design, horticulture, special exhibits and commercial exhibits.
In the design division, there will be Section A -Autumn Days, which includes three classes: ;lass 1 - Energy and Enterprise; class 2 - Ghosts and Goblins; and class 3 - Hearth and Harvest. This section must be made of all dried plant material, exhibited on a bookcase 40” high, and space allowed 22” wide by 18” deep.
In Section B - The North Winds Blow, the three classes are: class 1 - Me and My Shadow; class 2 - Hearts and Flowers; and class 3 - Carnival Time. These exhibits must consist of fresh and-or dried plant materials and must be placed on pedestals 12” square and 36” high.

Annuals, biennials and perennials are included in Section D, with large varieties - one stem and small varieties - three stems.
Section E consists of bulbs, corms, rhizomes and tubers, while Section F is hanging baskets, including flowering or foliage.
Roses are the theme of Section G, which can be flowering, florabunda, hybrid tea, minature or any unscheduled rose.
Section H consists of tree or shrub branches,
