Diamondhead: A private community with public pride
Diamondhead is a truly unique community.
Location, elevation and size make it a very special place on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Diamondhead enjoys a climate in which the sun shines brightly on average over 300 days a year, and has an average daily temperature of 68 degrees.
Temperate winters and cooler, coastal summers provide a year-round attraction for people from all over the world.
Diamondhead boasts of 6,600 acres of heavily wooded, rolling land that rises from sea level at the Bay of St. Louis to over 100 feet above sea level in several locations. Diamondhead is one of the highest points of land adjacent to salt water from Texas throughout the Gulf Coast and all the way around Florida.
The town has a population of approximately 5,800 people and is the fastest-grow-ing community in Southern Mississippi. New housing starts have averaged about 175 new homes per year for the past three years. Restrictive covenants protect the community’s integrity, and it is home to young families as well as retirees. The backgrounds of its residents are as diverse as anywhere in the country. The median family income, according to a recent survey, is $50,000-plus.
It boasts two of the finest 18-hole championship golf courses in the Southeast; a new country club facility that provides first-class dining and a meeting facility; and a yacht club suited to boaters and non-boaters alike.
The Diamondhead Airport offers a 3,500 foot lighted
