GEX is developing an extensive business as a timber contractor, and a contractor for round and hewn piling, which he furnishes to railroads and also to the building trade of New Orleans, although a large portion of his trade consists in extensive export shipments to Panama. Mr. Gex has been established in this business for the past twelve years, although he has been prominently identified with commercial affairs of the Bay for the past 20 years;
he has large realty holdings at the Bay, and owns extensive land holdings throughout the County; he is one of the organizers and a director of the Merchants Bank.
