MEETING ROOM POLICIES of the
HANCOCK COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM
The meeting room in the CITY-COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY is available for use by civic, educational and cultural groups for a single meeting. The provisions of such accommodations is an additional service rendered to the public under conditions set by the HANCOCK COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
Meeting rooms in public library buildings are provided primarily for library-related activities such as story hours, film programs, discussion groups, and other activities sponsored or co-sponsored by the library of Friends of the Library which are open to the public and' are related to the further use of the library’s materials. These activities must receive priority in the use of the meeting room. Regular library service must take precedence over all other activities and the use of the meeting room must not interfere with the operation of the library.
Permission to use the meeting room wil NOT be granted for: discussion of controversial issues unless the program provides for the presentation of bothsides and the discussion assumes the nature of an open forum with the presentation of all viewpoints; sectarian religious meetings; partisan % ■ ' political meetings; meetings for purely social purposes or groups.
Due to the fact that the Liiuia?^t-Ls operating budget only covers a regula: 1+3 hour week, there will be aC^lo/oQ feg) for the additional janitorial and utility expenses incurred by the/organizat ion meeting in the Library's facilities.	-	.
Reservations will be made by a responsible member of the organization who will see that all regulations are followed.	*
Application for each meeting must be approved by the Board of Trustees through the Director for any organization having regularly recurring meetings except the Friends of the Library.

Applications for the use of a meeting room must be made on the Library's request form at least 7 days and no more than 10 days prior to the meeting date. In the case of exceptional circumstances, exceptions can be made at the discretion of the Director.
