22	S_ECTI0N_ 2_. The governing authority of each municipality and county,

2k either independently or jointly, is hereby empowered, in its discretion,

26	to enac.t ordinances providing for the establishment and location of
27
28	historic preservation districts and the designation of historic landmarks

30	and landmark sites within the area of, its or their jurisdiction. Each

32	^such ordinance shall be adopted after investigation of the historical.

3!* architectural, archaeological and cultural significance of the buildings,

36	structures, features, sites and surroundings of such districts, landmarks

33	or landmark sites and after having held public hearing thereon. Notice of

landmark sites shall be published once a week for at least three (3) consecutive weeks in at least one (1) newspaper published in such municipality
