Attorney General Mike Moore says that in hindsight, he should have kept silent about a conversation he had with Ole Miss Chancellor Robert Khayat con-c e r n i n g Moore’s prosecution of Khayat’s father, instead of telling it to 'Hie Sun Her-Khayat ald editorial board	on
Monday.
Khayat said Moore got the gist of the conversation wrong.
Moore told the newspaper	that
Khayat, when he bumped into him on an airplane, had praised Moore’s work as district attorney and had said Moore conducted himself as a gentleman when he prosecuted Khayat’s father more than 20 years ago.
Moore was recalling his probe into Jackson County corruption as a young district attorney.	The	probe led to the
removal from office of four members of the county Board of Supervisors, including board President Eddie Khayat.

These two men are credited with bringing a pair of 1882 bells from the New Orleans Cotton Exchange to a new Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. The year was 1908 and the men were Joseph Mauffray, left, and Hugo Hoffman. The bells, still named Joseph and Hugo, are restored and ringing again.
Bay’s Joseph and Hugo will ring out once more
By KAT BERGERON
THE SUN HERALD
The ancient bells of Our I^ady of the Gulf will ring out with the joys of Easter this Sunday, and that in itself is a story of renewal. For 30 years, the two giants remained silent atop the brick tower of the Bay St. Louis Catholic church.
The tower’s 5-foot clocks now keep good time and direct the largest of the 120-year-old bells to ring at every hour. Those who live near the historic waterfront church are happy to have the comforting, reassuring sound once more to guide them through the day.
