Sandra was growing and she loved the lake so much you had to watch her. On her fourth birthday they held a grand party. Fred arranged for a small carnival and invited all the children.
Not long after that Fred and Mama were sitting around talking. Mama opened up and talked like she never had before. She talked about her family. She and Papa had only two of their generation alive but there were several nieces and nephews they had never seen except for a niece who had come to the United States in 1986.
That evening after dinner Fred asked if they would like to go and visit China. They were ticked to death but Mama wondered who would take care of Sandra. Fred told her they all would go.
Over the next few weeks Fred made all the arrangements. They would all fly out together and he would stay for two weeks and they could stay for an entire month. Fred warned they should not expect too much because China had changed greatly.
On the flight Mama and Papa told all about the family but the names just confused him. Chandra was so excited about flying and was a perfect angel all of the way. They arrived in Beijing late in the evening and Fred rented a car and drove them to Papa?s brother?s home, briefly meeting them and then returning to Beijing where he had rented a room in a hotel.
