Colonel John Carr lived at "Bear Castle", Louisa County, Virginia, on the old Cartersville road and Elk Creek.
Mary Garland Carr Because of her death shortly after birth of her son, Thomas Carr, it was the second wife of Colonel John Carr, Barbara Overton Carr, who raised Thomas Carr, along with a large family of her own. Much credit must be given to this fine lady as the second mother of the Carr family.
Will of Colonel John Carr who died April 20, 1778, was probated August 10, 1778, at County Courthouse, Louisa County, Virginia.
