THE SHEPHERD
Why can?t a Shepherd just tend his sheep Whether the numbers are many or few?
If the rams are fertile and the ewes are full The sheep will multiply to fill the pew.
If the fields are green and the streams run swift And the shepherd dog gentle and quick If the crook of the staff is round and smooth Not a sheep will be lost from the pick.
Need the shepherd rant and rave and rent his clothes And covet his neighbors herd? Calling the strays From both far and near, lest his coffer not overflow Will this not drive many frightened away?
Why can?t a shepherd just attend his sheep Whether the numbers are many or few?
Then the flock will grow and abound in peace And the sheep will increase to fill the pew.
