He was a son of the late James w> Sylvester, a pioneer resident of later in Bay St. Louis, well-known and high- ge ly-f/teemed. The sons, Howard and VV iiam, both deceased, followed in his path of life pitched on high plane, enjoying the respect' and esteem of all who knew him as a citizen of lofty principles.
The funeral took place Monday morning at 10 o?clock, from the late residence. Rev. Harkey, of the First Methodist church, conducted the funeral ceremony, both at the church and at Cedar Rest cemetery. There was a large attendance, notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, and the floral offerings were both beautiful and numerous.
James Howard Sylvester was born in Baldwin county, 07 years ago, and had been a resident of Bay St. Louis for the past fifty years. He is sur vived by his widow who, before her marriage was Miss Cornelia ^Collier, and seven children. , These are: Sons, Monroe, Wallace and Milton; daugh ters, Mrs. Irene Tudury, Mrs. John D. Mollere, Mrs. Gerald V. Price, of Algiers; Mrs. A. M. Walker, of Bay St. Louis; also a sister,' Mrs. T. B Turner, of Waynesboro, Texas.
Mr. Sylvester?s death removes from our community a splendid and substantial citizen, and The Echo chronicles his demise with more than ordinary regret, and to his family extends sympathy.
