************************** remarks ****************************
Robert Potter Wingate?s name suggests he sight be a kinsman of Robert Potter, Signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, Texas Secretary of Navy, etc. - but it is not proven - nor disproven.
Robert?s move to Texas seems to have followed the path of his brother Edward who was captured, then escaped, at Goliad. Edward was buried in Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio in 1960, almost 100 years after his death. Edward was g-grandfather of Huey P Long.
RPW?s son Laban was Lt Governor of Louisiana about 1901. Sam Jones and Lether Frazar, also descendants of RPW, were Governor and Lt Governor of Louisiana - my mother?s 1st cousins.
